Since mid-July, the Treasury has pulled half a trillion dollars to refill its general account, pulling cash out of markets. Now, that withdrawal has reached its limit, and the implications for Bitcoin and risk assets are massive. That’s the latest message from RaoulPal, CEO of Real Vision. Markets move with liquidity, and Pal argues that liquidity is about to take center stage yet again. After months of the Treasury issuing bonds to refill its general account and pulling 500 billion dollars out of markets, risk assets, especially crypto, have been stuck in choppy sideways action. Ethereum and Solana tested highs only to fade, while Bitcoin has been unable to break out. But according to Pal what’s happening right now is only a pause, and once the Treasury’s drain ends, liquidity will return and fuel the next leg higher in what he calls phase two of the Banana Zone cycle.
