Kazakhstan Tightens Crypto Mining Rules to Support State Reserve

Kazakhstan has taken another step toward integrating cryptocurrency into its national economic strategy. The government approved new strategic digital mining rules that connect regulated electricity access with contributions to a state-backed crypto reserve. The framework encourages large mining operators to work within a regulated environment while strengthening the country’s long-term digital asset ambitions.

Strict Standards for Strategic Mining
The regulations, approved on July 18, will take effect on August 1. Only large mining companies can qualify for strategic status. Operators must own mining facilities with at least 150 megawatts of installed capacity.
