Uniswap launches Permissioned Pools on v4, letting compliant assets trade onchain with allowlist checks built into the protocol.

Uniswap has introduced Permissioned Pools, a new hook standard for Uniswap v4. The feature enables permissioned asset trading through automated market makers. 

Compliance checks now run directly onchain instead of through frontend gates. 

Uniswap Labs built the standard alongside Superstate, Securitize, and Dowgo. The launch targets issuers who want regulated assets to trade while maintaining full compliance controls.

How Uniswap v4 Hooks Enforce Compliance

Permissioned Pools rely on Uniswap v4 hooks, which extend a pool’s functionality without altering the protocol’s core security guarantees. 

The hook checks an issuer-managed allowlist before each swap is executed. It also verifies allowlist status before a user can mint a liquidity position. These checks happen at the protocol level, not through a separate frontend layer. 

Issuers retain full control over who joins their allowlist. Approved users, meanwhile, gain direct access to onchain trading and settlement through Uniswap v4.
