World Foundation Pulls In $52.5M After Selling WLD Tokens Under a One‑Year Lockup

World Foundation raised $52.5 million through a strategic sale of WLD tokens, with all acquired assets subject to a one-year lock-up period.

The round, referred to as the “first close“, was led by Pantera Capital and included participation from Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto, among other investors. The foundation clarified that the tokens sold are intended for use within the network and do not represent equity participation in Tools for Humanity, the for-profit company behind the project.

The funds will be used to expand World ID technology for organizations, consumers, and artificial intelligence agents on a global scale. The initiative marks three years since its productive launch, and more than 39 million people have already joined the network, of whom over 18 million completed verification through the Orb.
