The Bitcoin network recorded a minor one-block reorganization at height 966,500 after the mining pools SpiderPool and AntPool simultaneously mined valid blocks. Galaxy Research reported that both pools competed for the tip of the canonical chain after propagating their versions at the same time to different nodes across the ecosystem.

This phenomenon does not represent a security vulnerability or an attack on the network, but rather the ordinary operation of the Proof-of-Work consensus algorithm in the presence of global latency. When AntPool solved block 966,501, the nodes adopted its branch as the valid chain due to greater accumulated work, leaving SpiderPoolโ€™s version as an orphan block and discarding its estimated mining reward of 3.1389 BTC.
