Sei (SEI): Network activity has declined
Sei launched as a Layer 1 purpose-built for high-speed trading and initially showed high throughput and user interest. On-chain metrics and market data indicate daily transactions fell from roughly 3 million to under 25,000 and throughput declined from a February peak to lower levels by June, a contraction that has affected both usage and market sentiment. The project’s social following has also changed over the same period, which observers cite as one visible signal of shifting interest.
Market data showed SEI trading near $0.04 on August 1, approximately 96% below its March 2024 high. A token unlock of nearly 89 million SEI is listed on market calendars for August 15, which could add near-term supply. Some analysts discuss a potential rebound if planned network upgrades perform as expected, but those outcomes are uncertain and depend on future events.
