The BRICS foreign ministers met in New Delhi on May 14 and 15 to set the stage for the BRICS leaders summit, and yet the meeting ended without a joint declaration, something that hadn’t happened in years. India issued a Chair’s Statement instead, since the group couldn’t agree on wording covering the war in the Middle East. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took the floor again after other members had already spoken, an unusual move, and he accused the UAE of playing a direct role in the fighting against Iran.
