Dogecoin is trading at around 7 cents, down nearly 70% from a year ago. Yet futures markets are telling a different story.
Open interest — the total value of active futures contracts — has climbed to roughly $1.21 billion, up from about $930 million in late June, according to CoinGlass. In coin terms, open interest has reached 17.18 billion DOGE, just below the 17.78 billion seen in October 2025, when DOGE was trading near 25 cents.
That means speculative positioning has nearly fully rebuilt even though each coin is now worth less than a third of what it was back then.
Trading volume jumped 95% to $1.39 billion. Options volume saw the largest spike among all reported indicators. Open interest in options rose 7.51% to 251,890 contracts, pointing to fresh speculative interest across the derivatives market.
