Hargreaves Lansdown Opens Bitcoin and Ethereum ETNs to UK Investors

Hargreaves Lansdown began offering nine Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded notes to eligible UK clients through its Advanced Investing service on September 3, 2026, opening a route to the products that excludes the platform’s mainstream Stocks and Shares ISA accounts. The range spans issuers including iShares, WisdomTree, 21Shares, Invesco, CoinShares and Bitwise.
At one of the UK’s largest investment platforms, the move puts a more guarded approach to crypto products into practice: clients seeking access must meet Advanced Investing requirements instead of simply buying the notes through a standard retail dealing journey.

The nine ETNs carry annual product charges ranging from 0% to 0.35%, according to Crowdfund Insider, which reported the September 3 launch. The selection gives eligible clients exposure through notes linked to Bitcoin or Ethereum rather than direct purchases of the underlying cryptocurrencies.
Issuers in the initial range are iShares, WisdomTree, 21Shares, Invesco, CoinShares and Bitwise. The available fee range means costs differ by product, while the platform’s access rules remain common to UK-domiciled clients using the service.
