Mirae Asset Financial Group announced an ambitious plan to build a digital asset business valued at 150 trillion won ($109 billion), with Digital X as the centerpiece of its strategy. The roadmap was presented by Park Hyeon-joo, founder and chairman of the group, during an internal event held in Seoul under the name “A New Voyage Begins, Together“, as reported by The Korea Times.
A few weeks ago it was announced that Mirae Asset Consulting, a subsidiary of the group, acquired a 97% stake in Korbit in July, later rebranding the company behind the exchange as Digital X.
Mirae Asset Bets on Onchain Finance
Digital X will operate with a focus on four areas: cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings. Within that framework, the company plans to tokenize physical assets such as gold, silver, and electricity, in addition to developing financial products and services based on digital assets and making proprietary investments. The long-term objective is to build an “onchain finance” ecosystem underpinned by blockchain technology.
