Merrick pointed to work led by professors Raša Karapandža and Yaw Nyarko at NYU Abu Dhabi’s CTED, including the expansion of the Volta Initiative and hands-on XRP Ledger research. The effort puts practical XRPL experimentation alongside broader decentralized-technology research, connecting academic work with potential real-world applications.
The renewed partnership keeps research activity running through 2027, giving the university and Ripple additional time to develop blockchain expertise and explore the XRP Ledger. Merrick said he is excited about the next chapter of innovation emerging from Abu Dhabi, making continued academic research the key pathway for strengthening XRPL’s regional innovation pipeline.
