An 82-year-old woman’s caretaker was allegedly caught siphoning $50,000 from her accounts over many months to fund repeated bingo sessions at nearby machines. The elderly woman had hired a 42-year-old woman, Sinora John, to take care of her daily needs. She was bedridden after suffering a broken femur and other fractures in April 2025, according to a report from the Post Guam.

The caretaker formed a close bond with the victim, which allowed her to gain access to her debit cards. Sinora made repeated unauthorized ATM transactions and withdrew money almost every day, sometimes even reaching $900 per day. The victim uncovered the activity after retrieving mail for the first time in over a year. Upon confrontation, the caretaker admitted to stealing the money and apologized to the 82-year-old victim.

The caretaker then proposed to repay the amount every month in installments. The elderly woman informed the police about the ordeal and got the 42-year-old arrested. Sinora admitted that she knew the woman’s PIN and used her debit cards without her permission for personal expenses. The bank records show that she had withdrawn a total of 50,366.89 across several months.
