Citi Bank calls for US Senate to Pass the Crypto Clarity Act
The Crypto CLARITY Act has gotten another notable backer, as Citi Bank Friday called for the US Senate to pass the new crypto bill. Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser voiced support for passing the U.S. digital asset market structure legislation. Speaking to Fox Business, Fraser said Citi was still pushing for changes to the CLARITY Act but wanted to see a robust bill cross the finish line.
โWeโre not giving up on pushing to get some improvements made to the bill,โ Fraser said. โBut we would like to see a good bill go through. I think it would be excellent for the system.โ The Citigroup CEOโs comments come after Citi previously treated progress on US digital-asset rules as a potential catalyst for institutional adoption. The crypto market has had a tumultuous 2026, with the global crypto market cap sinking by over $2 trillion in the last 365 days. The passage of the Clarity act is expected to help fuel a market rebound, in hand with the continued backing of crypto by firms like Citi.
The CLARITY Act aims to bring more regulatory clarity to the budding asset class. The legislation also aims to bring more investor protection. If passed the law could lead to investors feeling a lot more safe within the cryptocurrency sector.
