Citi to Launch Bitcoin Custody Service Through New Custody+ Platform
Citi plans to launch bitcoin custody later this year through its new Custody+ platform. The move gives institutional clients a single framework for managing traditional and digital assets. The bank expects the service to strengthen its position as financial markets move toward continuous trading.
Citi first outlined plans for native crypto custody in 2025. However, the bank now plans to make bitcoin the first supported digital asset. Additionally, clients will gain access to crypto custody alongside conventional custody services.
Building an Always-On Infrastructure
Custody+ will enable markets that continue to demand faster settlement and 24/7 operations. In addition to custody, the platform will provide real-time asset servicing, settlement tools and liquidity solutions.
