Claude AI Developer Anthropic to File for IPO This Month: Bloomberg
Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI chatbot, will reportedly file its IPO on the US stock market before the end of this month, according to Bloomberg. The Claude developer is currently running the numbers as it prepares to file publicly, sources close to the firm told Bloomberg this week. Anthropic is pushing to match or beat the size of SpaceX’s record-setting initial public offering.
Elon Musk’s SpaceX raised $75 billion prior to its IPO, making it the biggest first-time share sale ever. Back in June, Anthropic, which is valued at close to $1 trillion, submitted a draft registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering. Anthropic’s target reflects how the AI industry’s leaders are transforming the tech investment landscape. The five-year-old company raised $65 billion in May at a $965 billion valuation, surpassing rival OpenAI’s valuation of $852 billion in March when the ChatGPT maker raised $122 billion.
Bloomberg first reported Anthropic’s ambition on Thursday. Beating SpaceX means clearing $85.7 billion. A $100 billion raise would sit roughly 17% above that line. No source has named a target. Though Anthropic saw positive adjusted operating income for the second quarter, it had a net loss of almost $42 billion in 2025, a roughly fivefold increase from about $8.3 billion the year before. Therefore, it has a ways to go before the IPO launch to beat out Elon Musk’s space giant.
