Georgia Suspect Allegedly Poses as NBA Player, Steals $90,000 BMW from Hotel Valet

A suspect has allegedly stolen a $90,000 BMW SUV from a Georgia hotel by pretending to be a professional basketball player with several vehicles parked there.

The man walked through the lobby, took items from another car and handed over a valet ticket for the gray 2026 BMW X5 at the Hyatt Regency Savannah, reports WJCL.

Surveillance video showed him leaving with the loaner around 12:30 a.m. on August 14th.

Investigators tied the same person to the theft of a white Audi the day before and a black 2019 Toyota C-HR taken from a different hotel using a retrieval code.

The BMW was later tracked to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Police describe the suspect as a Black man in his 20s or 30s and released images asking the public for help.

At time of publishing, a connection to a specific NBA player has not been established.
