Bezos Expeditions backed CuspAI, a startup out of Cambridge that just hit a $2.6 billion valuation, and Nvidia and Meta also signed on as partners to help fix a materials shortage that has been slowing chip production down for a while now.

CuspAI: The Jeff Bezos AI Startup Behind The Deal

CuspAI closed a $450 million Series B round on July 20. Kleiner Perkins and NEA led the round, and Bezos Expeditions took part too, alongside AMD Ventures and the UK governmentโ€™s Sovereign AI Venture Fund. The round pushed the CuspAI AI startup to a $2.6 billion valuation, roughly a fivefold jump from about $520 million last September, and that kind of jump is not something you see every day. This Jeff Bezos AI startup began in Cambridge back in 2024, and it uses a platform it calls MIRA to test candidate materials that would normally take a lab years to work through by hand.
