The project is being built on a reclaimed coal mine in Kanawha County. MN8 Energy will own and operate it under the name Mammoth Solar.
The setup combines 86 MW of utility-scale solar with two types of energy storage. Eos is supplying 10 MW/100 MWh of its Z3 zinc-based long-duration storage, while lithium-ion batteries will provide 70 MW/280 MWh of additional capacity.
