More than $1 million in user funds was drained from the Solana-based crypto card platform, Avici, following a security exploit on Friday. The attacker stole more than 10,005 SOL along with balances in USDC and USDT via direct calls to the protocol’s authorization and collateral contracts, after improperly registering as an administrator of the affected accounts.

The incident immediately shook the market, triggering a 49.4% plunge in the price of the native token AVICI, which dropped to an all-time low of $0.2175. Beyond the financial loss, the breach puts the self-custody guarantees promoted by the service under scrutiny, highlighting persistent vulnerabilities in key management schemes and administrative permissions across Web3 payment solutions.
