Another Crypto Exchange Falls: BitMart Follows BitMEX’s Exit Strategy
BitMart halts trading and deposits, following BitMEX’s exchange exit, as BMX price crashes 63% amid full wind-down through Jan. 2027.
BitMart has announced an orderly wind-down of its trading platform operations.
The exchange suspended new registrations, deposits, and new trading orders starting July 26 at 1:30 a.m. UTC. Spot and futures trading will end entirely by August 26, 2026.
Full platform operations will officially close on January 31, 2027. The move follows shutdown announcement by BitMEX made on 23rd July, 2026, just some days earlier..
BitMart Shuts Down After Years Of Market Presence
BitMart launched in 2018 and once ranked among the top 10 exchanges by trading volume. The platform built a global user base across multiple countries and regions.
In 2021, hackers stole roughly $200 million from BitMart in one of the industry’s larger breaches. The exchange recovered and continued operating for years afterward.
In it’s blog announcement, BitMart cited its own evaluation of operating conditions and shifting market dynamics for the decision.
