Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent of the New York Stock Exchange, is expanding its blockchain strategy through a new partnership with tZERO, adding infrastructure for tokenized stocks and other securities.

Under agreements announced on August 31, tZERO will serve as a design partner for ICE’s planned NYSE-affiliated Digital Trading Platform. The firms will work on digital transfer-agent and broker-dealer systems for on-chain settlement, while ICE will invest in tZERO’s latest financing round and license its blockchain patent portfolio. The investment size was not disclosed.

The partnership places tZERO inside a broader effort to bring blockchain settlement into regulated public markets. Its 103 patents span compliance-aware transfers, smart-contract frameworks, corporate actions and identity interoperability. Subject to regulatory, technical and operational requirements, tZERO is expected to become an approved digital transfer agent and platform participant.
