BTCPay Server urged users to update its software immediately after confirming attackers are actively exploiting a critical security flaw that could let unauthorized users access Bitcoin payment servers and potentially steal funds.

The open-source Bitcoin payment processor issued the warning on Aug. 7, urging administrators to install version 2.4.2 as soon as possible. The project did not disclose technical details of the vulnerability to avoid helping attackers, but warned, “If you are unable to update right away, turn off your BTCPay Server to prevent unauthorized access until you can update.”
