HMRC: 17,600 UK Taxpayers Declare £1.38B in Crypto Gains

HMRC's first official statistics on taxable cryptoasset gains show that 17,600 individuals made Capital Gains Tax-liable cryptoasset disposals in the 2024 to 2025 tax year, reporting £1.38 billion in taxable gains. The inaugural dataset, published on 27 August 2026, also shows that 240 people reporting more than £1 million in gains accounted for £717 million of that total.

The figures provide an official view of the cryptoasset gains reported through the tax system for the first time. A server-generated data table follows this introduction.
