Jeff Bezos Nvidia ties have gotten a lot stronger this week, and it is worth breaking down what actually happened. Bezos Expeditions backed CuspAI, a startup out of Cambridge that just hit a $2.6 billion valuation, and Nvidia and Meta also signed on as partners to help fix a materials shortage that has been slowing chip production down for a while now.

CuspAI: The Jeff Bezos AI Startup Behind The Deal
CuspAI closed a $450 million Series B round on July 20. Kleiner Perkins and NEA led the round, and Bezos Expeditions took part too, alongside AMD Ventures and the UK governmentโs Sovereign AI Venture Fund. The round pushed the CuspAI AI startup to a $2.6 billion valuation, roughly a fivefold jump from about $520 million last September, and that kind of jump is not something you see every day. This Jeff Bezos AI startup began in Cambridge back in 2024, and it uses a platform it calls MIRA to test candidate materials that would normally take a lab years to work through by hand.
