MetaMask Launches Self-Custodial AI Wallet for Autonomous On-Chain Trading
MetaMask presented Agent Wallet, an innovative self-custodial wallet aimed at enabling AI agents to autonomously execute on-chain transactions within set boundaries. The development, created by Consensys, seeks to facilitate the work of developers and traders using models such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or OpenClaw to monitor the market and execute automated trades.
The solution addresses security risks in delegated execution by enforcing predefined parameters, such as spending caps, authorized protocols, and operational modes like “Guard Mode” and “Beast Mode.” In addition to supporting EVM networks and Hyperliquid, the wallet incorporates gas abstraction, allowing transaction fees to be settled directly with the transferred token. Each transaction includes prior simulation, threat scanning, and up to $10,000 per month in protection for transactions qualified as safe.
This move consolidates the infrastructure for the AI agent economy, competing directly with similar offerings from Coinbase and MoonPay. The next step for MetaMask will be expanding the general availability of Agent Wallet following its initial early access phase.
