TeraWulf Expands Beyond Bitcoin as HPC Leasing Revenue Jumps 52%
Mining and energy infrastructure company TeraWulf reported that its high-performance computing (HPC) leasing revenue grew 52% quarter-over-quarter to reach $31.9 million. Patrick Fleury, Chief Financial Officer of the firm, highlighted during the earnings call that the company consolidated a financial profile driven by long-term HPC contracts, a segment that now represents 71% of its total revenue.
This strategic shift reinforces the sector’s rapid migration toward artificial intelligence in the face of crypto volatility. Although TeraWulf recorded a net loss of $940 million —mostly stemming from accounting adjustments on warrants issued to Google— it strengthened its operations after reaching 102 MW of active capacity at Lake Mariner and securing a 20-year mega-contract with Anthropic in Kentucky.
For the upcoming phases, the firm’s management reaffirmed its goal of contracting an additional 250 MW to 500 MW of annual IT capacity, driving the development of the new CB4 and CB5 data buildings. This diversification sets a precedent for digital mining in its adaptation to AI demand.
