TON Bridge Shuts Down: Wrapped TON and j-Tokens Must Be Back by September 1, 2026

If you hold Wrapped TON on Ethereum or on BNB Smart Chain, you have until September 1, 2026 to bring those tokens back into the TON network over the official bridge. After that the bridge is shut down, and any balance still sitting in wrapped form can no longer be unwound by this route. The mirror image applies to the so-called j-tokens on TON, meaning jUSDT, jUSDC, jDAI and jWBTC: those holdings have to go back to Ethereum beforehand.
The date has been fixed since May 23, 2026. It is therefore not a surprise event but a long-announced deadline now entering its final days. That is precisely what makes it dangerous: announced deadlines drop out of view because they look far off on first reading.

What is being shut down is the cross-chain bridge at the address bridge-v3.ton.org. This bridge connects Toncoin with Ethereum and with BNB Smart Chain. A cross-chain bridge is a pair of contracts on two blockchains that locks a balance on one side and issues a proxy token of the same size on the other.
