1inch Joins SEAL Whitehat Safe Harbor to Support Rapid Intervention

1inch joined the SEAL Whitehat Safe Harbor Agreement, a legal framework designed to allow white hat hackers to intervene during active exploits without facing legal consequences.

The adoption was approved through governance by the 1inch DAO and is recorded in document 1IP-104, which details the covered protocols, the designated recovery addresses, and the reward conditions.

The agreement, led by Security Alliance (SEAL), a nonprofit organization founded by the researcher known as samczsunsets strict conditions for intervention: white hats may only act during an active exploit, must contact the protocol’s security team as soon as they begin operating, and are required to return recovered funds within a maximum of 72 hours to a designated address. In return, they receive legal protection and a reward equivalent to a percentage of the rescued assets. For 1inch, the enabled contact is security@1inch.com.

The agreement has already been adopted by protocols such as Uniswap, zkSync, Pendle, PancakeSwap, and Balancer, and sets an active defense standard in an ecosystem where attacks are executed in minutes and traditional response mechanisms are often too slow to make a difference.
