SpaceX Commits $100,000,000,000 To Build World’s Largest Spaceport in Louisiana

SpaceX is committing $100 billion to develop the world’s largest spaceport on coastal land in Louisiana.

The company says the new Starbase Louisiana facility will become its fourth and largest launch site, capable of supporting thousands of launches annually at full buildout.

The development will feature five launch complexes, each with two pads and a propellant farm, plus a propellant production facility, power generation, vehicle processing areas, and housing for employees and families.

The project is projected to generate 3,000 direct jobs over the next decade at an average annual salary of $92,600, which is 192% above the local Vermilion Parish average, along with more than 8,100 indirect jobs for a total exceeding 11,100 new opportunities in the Acadiana region.

Governor Jeff Landry is calling the announcement a pivotal moment for the state.
