At the same time, the Deutsche Bundesbank became the first institution to test and deploy the open-source permissioning engine within its own infrastructure.

The code release responds to demand from the regulated sector. Alex Gluchowski, CEO of Matter Labs, explained that the most consistent feedback received from regulated institutions indicated that an exclusively commercial core created an unacceptable single-vendor dependency for critical infrastructure. “The ability to run, inspect, and modify the code independently is a prerequisite for adoption,” Gluchowski stated.
