New Jersey Mortgage Lender Sending Up to $2,500 Payouts To Customers in Data Breach Settlement

A mortgage lender is agreeing to settle a class action lawsuit over a data breach that exposed customers’ personal information.
The agreement says NJ Lenders Corp reached the deal in Castenie et al. v. NJ Lenders Corp to resolve claims stemming from a targeted cyberattack on its systems in August 2025.
The incident allowed unauthorized access to files containing names, Social Security numbers and other personal information.
The settlement covers approximately 35,000 class members and provides one year of credit monitoring with up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.
Individuals can seek reimbursement for documented losses of up to $2,500 or a flat $40 payment, subject to a $100,000 total cap that may result in pro rata reductions.
NJ Lenders denies any wrongdoing.
Opt-out and objection deadlines are September 16, 2026, with claims due by October 1, 2026.
The final approval hearing is set for October 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
