Over $50,000 Allegedly Drained From Bedridden Elderly Woman’s Accounts by Caretaker

An elderly woman’s caretaker allegedly withdrew more than $50,000 from her accounts over many months to fund repeated bingo sessions at nearby machines.

The victim, who was 81 years old, hired the 42-year-old woman Sinora John to manage her daily needs after suffering a broken femur and other fractures in April 2025 that left her bedridden, reports Post Guam.

The pair formed a close bond during the arrangement, which allowed the caretaker to obtain debit card information and make repeated unauthorized cash withdrawals, sometimes reaching $900 in a single day at ATMs.

The victim uncovered the activity on August 15th after retrieving mail for the first time in over a year.

Upon confrontation, the caretaker admitted taking the funds, apologized, and proposed repayment through installments while telling police she knew the PIN and used the card without permission for personal expenses.

“After checking with her bank, however, the victim discovered that over time those unauthorized transactions exceeded $50,000. Sinora was confronted by the victim again, and again she admitted to taking the funds for her personal use and begged the victim not to contact the police…
