Alleged Fraudster Drains Nearly $2,400 From Elderly Woman’s Account After Masquerading as JPMorgan Chase Representative

A man has been arrested after authorities say he posed as a Chase Bank employee to steal money from an elderly woman’s bank account.

Alberto Stanley is facing charges of grand theft and fraudulent use of a victim’s personal identification, reports WPBF News.

Authorities say the scheme began with a phone call from someone claiming to represent Chase Bank.

The caller allegedly warned the victim that fraudulent activity had been detected on her accounts and said a bank employee would come to her home to collect her debit card.

Authorities say Stanley later arrived dressed in business attire and identified himself as a Chase Bank employee.

Stanley allegedly told the woman her debit card needed to be surrendered because of suspected fraud. Stanley allegedly cut up the card, sealed it inside an envelope, and asked the victim to sign it before leaving with the envelope.

The woman later became suspicious and visited a local Chase branch, where she discovered that nearly $2,400 had already been withdrawn from her accounts.
