Russia has completed one of the most significant regulatory changes in its recent history concerning digital assets. President Vladimir Putin signed legislation establishing a comprehensive framework for the circulation, trading, and use of cryptocurrencies, with its provisions being introduced progressively. The reform allows digital assets to be used in foreign trade operations, while maintaining strict restrictions for retail investors and prohibiting their use as a means of payment inside Russia.

The Bank of Russia confirmed that market participants will be able to use cryptocurrencies for transactions linked to imports and exports, including through wallets and without the same limits imposed on retail investors.
