Shinhan Financial Signs Visa Deal for Stablecoins, AI, and B2B Payments
Shinhan Financial Group and Visa signed a strategic business agreement to collaborate on stablecoins, artificial intelligence and B2B payments as part of Shinhan’s “future finance” strategy. The partnership puts stablecoin infrastructure at the center of a broader payments push, with the companies planning to test issuance, remittance and redemption through Visa’s platform.
The two sides also intend to design a stablecoin business model tailored to South Korea’s financial environment and examine applications in card-payment settlement. Joint work will extend to AI-based future payment models and both B2B and B2C services, placing digital assets and intelligent payments inside the same development roadmap rather than treating them as separate initiatives.
Shinhan plans to connect the capabilities of major subsidiaries, including Shinhan Bank, Shinhan Card and Jeju Bank, with Visa’s global payment network and digital technology. The agreement establishes a framework for further testing rather than announcing completed commercial services, making proof-of-concept execution and Korea-specific product design the next operational milestones.
