World Liberty Financial Delays Maldives-Linked Token Sale, Bloomberg Reports
World Liberty Financial and its partners have delayed plans to sell a digital token tied to a Trump-branded resort in the Maldives, Bloomberg reported August 13. The postponement puts one of the venture’s more ambitious real-world asset tokenization projects on hold after the offering had been scheduled for this spring.
The proposed token would give investors a share of revenue generated by loans financing the resort. According to people familiar with the matter, the offering was pushed back as the war with Iran disrupted travel across the region, making geopolitical disruption the immediate obstacle to the planned token sale rather than a change in its underlying structure.
The delay does not amount to a cancellation, and Bloomberg’s report did not identify a revised launch date. That leaves timing as the central outstanding question while World Liberty continues pursuing blockchain-based real-world assets, with the Maldives project now dependent on conditions improving enough for the offering to resume.
