World Open-Sources ProveKit for Zero-Knowledge Identity Verification

World announced on September 2 that it has open-sourced ProveKit, a production-ready zero-knowledge toolkit already integrated into World ID. The release makes its on-device proof-generation stack available to developers, according to the World Foundation.

ProveKit keeps identity claims on the device

ProveKit is now part of World ID, World’s digital identity system.

It is designed to let a user establish a specific identity-related claim—such as meeting a minimum age requirement, holding a particular nationality or owning a valid document—without exposing the underlying identity data.

World said proof generation takes place locally and private information does not leave the device. Rather than sending an identity document or full personal profile to a verifier, the intended interaction is a cryptographic assertion limited to the claim being requested.

Repository exposes Noir-to-WHIR proof tooling

The public ProveKit repository supports compiling Noir programs into R1CS constraints and generating and verifying WHIR proofs, with integrations for Rust, JavaScript, Swift, Kotlin and C-compatible environments.
