Zcash plunged after Shielded Labs disclosed a critical vulnerability in the Orchard privacy pool that could have allowed an attacker to mint unlimited counterfeit ZEC, undetected. The bug, discovered with the help of Anthropic's Opus 4.8 AI model, had been sitting in the code for four years. Arthur Hayes liquidated his entire ZEC position in response.
