Zeus Wallet Halts Services Following Security Breach and Ongoing Audit

Zeus Wallet shut down its infrastructure after detecting a cybersecurity incident and is currently auditing its systems before restoring services.

Evan Kaloudis, founder of the self-custody wallet for Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, confirmed that the attack did not compromise any user funds and that no evidence was found that the incident affected Lightning node software. “Based on our investigation so far, we believe this incident was limited to Zeus’s infrastructure,” Kaloudis stated in an official post.

According to the founder, the Zeus team managed to mitigate the attack within a matter of hours. Users whose channels with the Lightning service provider were closed during the incident will receive replacement channels once services resume. The company did not disclose the nature of the attack or offer a timeline for the restoration of operations, though it noted that the episode reinforces its work on trusted execution environments and the Validating Lightning Signer project to strengthen its infrastructure.
