Gabriel Perez Exits Government Over Kalshi Bet Claims

A White House official said Gabriel Perez, a teleprompter operator previously placed on unpaid leave over allegations involving Kalshi bets tied to President Donald Trump’s speeches, no longer works in the federal government. The official did not say whether Perez resigned or was fired, making his departure the first confirmed employment consequence from the reported betting activity.

The White House had suspended Perez after a report alleged he used job-related knowledge to win more than $100,000 by predicting words or phrases Trump would use in major addresses, including the State of the Union. Kalshi’s “Mentions” markets allow such contracts, but the platform prohibits wagers based on information obtained through a user’s employment.

Kalshi enforcement chief Robert Denault said the company’s surveillance team flagged, investigated and referred the relevant trades to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, though his statement did not name Perez. The next issue is whether regulators pursue further action, because the employment departure does not resolve the underlying market-conduct allegations.
